The best thing about December 2009 is of course that our very 1st food-drive raised over $120.00 worth of non perishable items which were distributed to St. Vincent de Paul. We were set up at ONLY 1 Kroger store between the hours of 1000am-615pm. By all accounts, this was a VERY great start and WILL most certainly give us something to build upon. Right now, we're also currently working on a plan to set multiple drives up and NOT just during the winter season. I personally would like to see a year round project, heavily advertised with multiple sites participating in this. Right now, this is currently in the development phase but this idea is being heavily researched. On a lighter note, it's also been suggested by some that I'm naive in my belief that the REAL people are going to be ones to change Dayton. I challenge these few people to make that same statement, come this time next year. REAL PEOPLE DO = REAL RESULTS!
As most everyone is now aware, "Citizens 4 Change" Dayton has taken two very big steps.
1. I'm proud to announce our partnership with Trendsettazonline.com (a growing news agency that was created and founded by Tresavon Evans.) In the early days of our inception it was this organization that first stepped forward and offered to help us spread the word of REAL people coming together for the common goal of a better city and region. Their objectives are much like ours, the creation of a more robust and economically stable Dayton with better jobs and more youth involvement. We look forward to working with them closely on all future projects, and we're proud to have them in the fight to better the Miami Valley Region!
2. As we get ready to step up our efforts, "Citizens 4 Change" Dayton has taken the next logical step. We have formed a Board of Directors, comprised of everyday residents from across Dayton. I would now like to take this time to introduce these individuals to the rest of Dayton and the Miami Valley Region. You will quickly find, that just like you and I they come from a variety of all backgrounds. We ARE the residents of Dayton and YES we mean business!

"For those of you who might not know me, I'll keep it sweet and simple. I've served in the US Army for the last 9 years and spent a good portion of that time rebuilding communities in Iraq. My job or MOS is a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. I'm leaving the military behind to focus on Dayton and the work that "Citizens 4 Change" has yet to do. I enjoy a great deal many things, to include college football and the Dallas Cowboys! I'm 31 years of age and I'm proud to call Dayton HOME!"
2. Matthew Birdsall Board Member
"Is wondering what he can accomplish today that will influence and improve our tomorrow. As a lifelong resident of the Miami Valley, Matthew's efforts, both personally and professionally, are focused on the improvement of the human condition. This starts at home. As a graduate of Beavercreek High School and Wright State University (MEd) Matthew appreciates the rich history of our city and the ability to awaken its innovative spirit. Matthew is currently the Chair of the Secondary English Department at Summit Academy in Middletown and an Adjunct English Instructor at RETS College in Centerville, in addition to being a freelance writer. He is also a member of St. Vincent de Paul affiliated WSU volunteer group that works to increase education and alleviate the stress of homelessness among area youth. Matthew believes that education engenders awareness which will enable the citizens of our community to step up and take action by coming together to reignite this great city. Take pride, take care, and take responsibility."

"Graduated high school in LaCrescent, MN, population 3,500. Eager to experience life, I enlisted in the Army 6 months before I graduated and left the month after. Unfortunately, my military career was cut short by a broken hip. Since then, I have spent the majority of my life working for various government agencies and living in Dayton and the surrounding area. My husband, two children, and pets keep me pretty busy. I also work full-time and go to school part -time. I have experience in HR, Office Management, utilizing Labor Market Information, government and facilitating job search workshops through my employment, and I hope to utilize these skills in working with C4C. I am proud to call Dayton my home. There are so many wonderful things here but they are often overshadowed by our problems. I am so glad to be a part of Citizens 4 Change and am looking forward to helping the Gem City shine again!"
4. Turk Vangel Board Member
"Turk Vangel has been a resident of the Dayton area his entire life. He now resides in St. Anne's Hill with his wife and step daughter. Turk works at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a machinist and welder. He is the host and founder of MMA Gospel Radio, an online mixed martial arts radio show and is also a journalist for www.fighters.com. Turk remembers coming downtown and spending time at McCrory's and the Arcade as a child and plans on working hard to make Dayton the Gem City once again. "
5. Jean Wick Board Member
"My name is Jean Wick, I am a full time mom to two wonderful boys as well as a full time student. I will be going to Southwestern College to pursue a LPN degree in April. The reason I want to do this is because I want to make a difference in somebody else's life, NOT just my own. I have been a resident of the City of Dayton for most of my life. I got involved with Citizens 4 Change because I want the City of Dayton to be a city where people want to live and work. I also want it to be a city where companies want to bring businesses to locate. I also want to build a community feeling in the neighborhoods that we live in. I believe that Citizens 4 Change can bring about those changes and I'm glad that I have the honor and privilege to be a part of such an organization."
6. Tim Wick Board Member
"Hello my name is Timothy Wick. I have lived in Dayton for approximately 8 years on and off. I'm currently attending Sinclair Community College majoring in environmental engineering. Upon completion I'm planning to attend Wright State University to major in urban affairs. I joined Citizens 4 Change to become active with community outreach for those less fortunate and to effect positive change and strong community values. From these first steps I hope to join other citizens and local businesses to build a better community, a better city, and in time a strong local economy and an environment that nurtures a vibrant local and independent business community."

9. Tresavon Evans Communications Director
"Tresavon M. Evans was born Nov 12, 1982 at Good Samaritan Hospital. After going to Stivers for Middle school, a stint at Patterson and eventually graduating from Miamisburg High; he enlisted in the United States Navy July 8, 2001. Starting out as a cook he decided to do more and crossed over to the medical field as a Hospital Corpsman. June 2006-March 2007 took him to Iraq where he provided trauma support in the Hussaybah province to the 3rd battalion 4th Marine Division. January 2009 Tresavon decided his duty as military personnel was done and discharged honorably. His focus was now on a passion of his in the entertainment and communications field. During his enlistment he created a promotions company in California "KiDD Entertainment" which promotes events in over a dozen nightclubs. His sights were set on his hometown of Dayton, OH; noticing the entertainment/nightlife here were very stagnant. After very careful review it was clear it wasn't the entertainment itself as much as the information for the entertainment being scattered and not collectively placed or a system to bring the information together and allow the people to choose. So a communications network that was not tied to any particular party or agenda was created as a catalyst to make this dream a reality "TrendSettazOnline.com".
